Who should attend?
All healthcare professionals should be proficient in resuscitating patients. Most healthcare professions will need to prove competency every 12 months. Healthcare professionals who potentially need to resuscitate children must be trained in specific HCP resuscitation protocols for children and infants. Healthcare professionals who care for children as part of their role but are unlikely to need to resuscitate them should learn standard child and infant CPR.

Assessment and Certification
Continuous observation by the trainer - successful delegates are awarded a certificate of competence, valid for three years.
The practical elements of this course are essential as they provide you with vital hands-on experience. It is important that you are physically able to take part in the practical parts of the course.
The HSE requires you to attend the full duration of the course and candidates need a basic command of English ( defined as Level 2 ) to be eligible for evaluation.
On-site training room requirement
It is recommended that the room size should be approximately 20 x 30 feet for a full 12 person course. The room should be large enough to seat all candidates comfortably in a semicircle formation. The floor space in the centre should be clean and uncluttered as this will be used for the practical parts of the course. The trainer will also require a flip chart if one is available.
