Returning to Work Safely
Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are known to cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).
This course provides information on what facilities should be doing to be prepared to respond to a case of an emerging respiratory virus such as the novel coronavirus.

Who is this course for?
This two hour course is suitable for everyone in any workplace environment and can be tailored to meet environment. This course teaches how cross contamination is easily spread & how through various prevention methods being put in place both before returning to the Workplace & upon your actual return.

The content of this course has been designed to build knowledge and confidence. It will teach you to recognise and treat various illnesses and incidents correctly and efficiently.

What is a virus and how are they spread?
Trainers will inform participants that a virus is a sub microscopic infectious agent that replicates only inside the living cells of an organism. It is unable to self-replicate hence social distancing denies the virus of a host. Viruses can be spread in many ways. COVID-19 is by droplets from infected persons spread during coughing or sneezing or by touch if present on skin.
Wearing and removal of PPE and its safe disposal
The trainer will demonstrate the correct application of gloves, masks and aprons and how to remove these using an aseptic technique. Used PPE should be suitably bagged and disposed of as per clinical waste guidelines.
Hand washing, cleansing and use of alcohol sanitisers
The trainer will demonstrate correct hand washing technique. Do not assume that everyone knows how to wash their hands. Explain current HSE guidelines during COVID-19 precautions and current guidelines for safe CPR protocols. Additional PPE for workplace first aiders
