What will I learn?
The content of this course has been designed to build knowledge and confidence. It will give you an understanding of the fire regulations and the correct precautions to take.
The course covers the following topics:
Common causes of fire
The elements of fire (The fire triangle)
The three means of putting out a fire
The Different types & colours of the Extinguishers
Occasions when you should or should not use each type of extinguishers
The use of fire extinguishers
Action in the outbreak of fire – escape routes and fire doors
What to do when you discover a fire and being aware of your role in the event of a fire
Demonstrating the use of fire extinguishers
One of our trainers will deliver this course at your premises on a date of your choice. he timings could also be arranged to suit your requirements.
The practical elements of this course are essential as they provide you with vital hands-on experience. It is important that you are physically able to take part in the practical parts of the course.
The HSE requires you to attend the full duration of the course to be eligible for evaluation.
Assessment and Certification
You will be continually assessed throughout the duration of the course by one of our qualified trainers. Upon successful completion, you will receive a Fire Safety Awareness Certificate valid for three years.
On-Site Training Room Requirement
It is recommended that the room size should be approximately 20 x 30 feet for a full 12 person course. The room should be large enough to seat all candidates comfortably in a semicircle formation. The floor space in the centre should be clean and uncluttered as this will be used for the practical parts of the course. The trainer will also require a flip chart if one is available.
An outdoor space is also required for letting off a fire extinguisher. The area should be on firm, level ground and must be positioned at least 5m away from any premises. An agreement to use this outdoor area must be made in advance of the course commencement.
