This course is essential support for all working professionals who manually handle objects, sit at a keyboard or stand in tiring positions. These activities are the main activities that cause work-related musculoskeletal disorders, such as back and joint pain. This course is tailored to suit your specific needs and is for anyone whose job role involves moving and handling objects.

The content of this course has been designed to build knowledge and confidence. It will give you an understanding of how to move objects safely and the correct precautions to take.  We recommend employers consider this training as part of each new employee's induction. Anatomy and physiology of your back

Recognising injuries

Understanding the causes of back pain

Assessment of the environment and object weight / dimensions

One of our trainers will deliver this course at your premises on a date of your choice. The timings could also be arranged to suit your requirements.

Assessment and Certification

​

You will be continually assessed throughout the duration of the course by one of our qualified trainers. Upon successful completion you will receive a Moving and Handling Certificate valid for three years.

Pre-requisites

​

The practical elements of this course are essential as they provide you with vital hands-on experience. It is important that you are physically able to take part in the practical parts of the course.​  The HSE requires you to attend the full duration of the course and candidates need a basic command of English ( defined as Level 2 ) to be eligible for evaluation. You will also be required to complete a short questionnaire at the beginning of the session.

On-site training room requirement

​

​

It is recommended that the room size should be approximately 20 x 30 feet for a full 12 person course. The room should be large enough to seat all candidates comfortably in a semicircle formation. The floor space in the centre should be clean and uncluttered as this will be used for the practical parts of the course. The trainer will also require a flip chart if one is available.
