Is this course for me?

This one day course had been designed to give you a good knowledge of first aid to cover the most common child / student risks.  In a school environment we recommend group training on a date that suits you, such as an inset day.

Who should attend?

This course is designed for teachers, ancillary staff and anyone looking after children.  With allergies on the increase and many children being prescribed adrenalin auto-injectors this course also covers the required content to deliver these injection if and when necessary.

Assessing and managing incidents

Treatment of an unconscious baby / child

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation - ( CPR )

Minor injuries including small cuts, grazes, bruises and small splinters

Burns and scalds

Wounds and bleeding

Sprains & strains

Ear infections

Asthma

Croup

Raised temperature

Diarrhoea & vomiting

Assessment and Certification


You will be continually assessed throughout the duration of the course
by one of our qualified trainers.

Upon successful completion you will
receive a Child Care First Aid certificate valid for three years.


It is highly recommended that all qualified first aiders should refresh
their knowledge and first aid skills every year.

Pre-requisites

The practical elements of this course are essential as they provide you with vital hands-on experience.  It is important that you are physically able to take part in the practical parts of the course.  You are requires to attend the full duration of the course and candidates need a basic command of English ( defined as Level 2 ) to be eligible for evaluation and qualify for a Child Care First Aid certificate.

On-site training room requirement

It is recommended that the room size should be approximately 20 x 30 feet for a full 12 person course.  The room should be large enough to seat all candidates comfortably in a semicircle formation.  The floor space in the centre should be clean and uncluttered as this will be used for the practical parts of the course.  The trainer will also require a flip chart if one is available.
